Sunday, January 8, 2023 - As we are beginning a new year, this is always a time of reflection on old things passing and new things ahead. The writer of Hebrews understands how things change from old seasons to new seasons, especially considering how Jesus fulfilled the OLD covenant of yearly animal sacrifices with the NEW covenant of His blood atoning for mankind's sin. Think about the early church when they first realized that the requirement of yearly animal sacrifices was no longer necessary because Jesus became the one-time sacrifice. When God tore the curtain separating the Holy of Holies from top to bottom, He ushered all men directly into His Holy presence through the "curtain of Jesus." This is life-changing from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant. The writer then encourages all believers to come together even more so in corporate worship as the Day of the Lord draws near.
