In this episode, I have the pleasure of chatting with Glenne De Gonzague of NUD Beauty. She shares her story of how she started her business while in college pursuing a law degree. We talk about her challenges as an entrepreneur and what she has learned along the way. Glenne De Gonzague is a licensed cosmetologist specializing in natural hair care. She was born in St. Lucia and raised in the United States. After deciding what area, she wanted to pursue her career in, she discovered her interest in Cosmetology. NUD Beauty was founded in 2016 through Glenne's college experiences. She noticed that there was a prominent struggle for students to take care of themselves. She later noticed that it wasn't only students, but a majority of the world battled with what it really means to practice self-care. In this episode, my special guest Akida Gray aka (my husband) shares his experience as the husband of an entrepreneur. In 2019, I left my full-time job to pursue entrepreneurship full time. Things did not necessarily go as planned (a lot of things) lol. Akida shares how we managed and how he as a spouse felt during those difficult times.  This is our first time having this conversation, so it gets interesting. LOL I ask him questions and he gives genuine answers. It isn't always easy and anyone that says that it is.... I need their number. lol There is a lot of juggling, listening, understanding, trusting, and choosing to show up in supportive, encouraging ways.  We've made it through, but we have had our fair share of disconnects and doubts. In this episode, I do something I don't normally do on a podcast. I PRAY. This weekend the world experienced a tragic helicopter accident which resulted in the loss of nine lives.  As people, we all at some point experiences devastations in life. Our devastations can show up in many different ways, the loss of life, the decay of health, heartbreak, divorce, really any life-altering experience. And sometimes we just don't know why we don't have the answers nor do we have the words to even express our pain or to comfort someone else in theirs.  The only thing we can do is PRAY.  So this episode I do just that PRAY. It's the beginning of the year!! We all have plans, some of us have vision boards, new planners and a list of goals we want to accomplish. I have some of these things too. As I started this year I found myself running around trying to figure out what MY plan would be for this year. And I kept coming up empty. I mean there were so many ideas, so many goals, so many plans that finally I said: "Wait a minute!" What does God want me to do? I do believe that time can help us process things better and relieve some of the impulsive responses we may have but healing...... that's an altogether different thing. Life can present so many heartaches, so many let downs, so many seasons that can leave us barely hanging on. Yet, we still have to rise above if we are going to "live our best lives". I had a conversation with someone weeks ago, and they expressed that they thought I was really good at handling the letdowns of life. I got this sense that they thought I was this superwoman or something. Because believe me I'm not. When I say "really" I mean people who want to be with you in your highs and your lows. People who are connected to you because they appreciate who you are, who you are becoming, and respect where you've been. When you choose people who choose you, you are happier and have more fulfilling relationships.
