Come along with me, Shaun Newman, as I track down unique stories centered around current & past athletes. I am a former Junior A, Division 3 hockey player. I spent a short cup of coffee in Finlands Suomi Sarja League and in 2006 biked across Canada. I currently play Senior for the Hillmond Hitmen in the SaskAlta Hockey League.Believe life is an adventure and everyone has a unique story to tell. Here we will try and uncover some of those stories.

    Jantzen & TJ both grew up in Lloydminster and played together all through minor hockey culminating in a trip to the Telus Cup.  Jantzen was selected 15th overall in the Bantam draft and played 4 years in the WHL. TJ went undrafted and just finished his 3rd and final year in the AJHL becoming the CJHL defensemen of the year. We discuss all of this and more on today’s episode

Murray is retired from teaching (30years) and now is a full time painter. He taught himself rugby by reading a book and went on to coach the Lashburn High School to 5 provincial championship. He has a lot of insight on coaching kids and how to approach life in general.  You don’t want to miss this one.

Originally from Saskatoon SK she grew up playing volleyball, but it would not be until age 31 before she would make her collegiate sports debut. Chelsea played two years for the Lakeland Rustlers where she would not only dress, but be on the starting roster. They would go onto win conference both years with a Gold and a bronze at the national championships. Chelsea is happily married and mother of two wonderful kids. We will discuss all this and more.

    This week’s guest is Colin Senkow. He currently lives in Calgary AB where he has been active with the Calgary Fire Department since 2008. Colin played his Junior A with the Dryden Ice Dogs and later in his career would compete in the World Police and Fire Games. These games happen every two years anywhere around the world. He has taken home a bronze, silver and finally a gold over the Russians in 2015. Colin is happily married and recently became a father to a beautiful girl.  We will discuss all this and more

  • Ep. 10 Weyburn Redwings - Gord Redden

    It was an absolute honour to sit across from Gord and hear first hand his journey with hockey. Born and raised in Hillmond, Saskatchewan he played his first junior hockey in Lashburn with what was then a Jr. B team coached by Sask hall of fame inductee Stan Dunn. The Jr B club was an affiliate of the Weyburn Redwings so naturally Gord carried onto the Junior A club. From here he would play in a Memorial cup with the Regina Pats and sign his first pro contract. During the 1970’s he would spend time in both Port Huron, Michigan of the IHL and Fort Worth, Texas of the CHL all of which were part of the Detroit Red Wings minor league system. Gord eventually made his way back home and would play senior for the Hillmond Allstars winning a SaskAlta title in 1978. Currently Gord resides in Hillmond where he has been a huge part of the community for decades.

    Born and raised in Port Arthur, Ontario, he played for the Thunder Bay Twins. He would go on to win 2 Allan Cups and a Colonial Cup.  During his coaching career which currently totals: 822 Junior ‘A’ & 120 Pro as Head Coach not to mention 174 Junior ‘A’ as an assistant coach. He has been through the Dudley Hewitt Cup and twice has reached the Royal Bank Cup finals. Currently he resides in Kindersley, SK where he owns a local fitness center and is the assistant coach of the Kindersley Junior ‘A’ Klippers.  Larry’s thoughts on what he tries to instil with his players “Work hard and compete, never cheat the game, be a good teammate and enjoy it because it goes by quick”  We discuss all this and more on this episode

    Brad Cruikshank is a former Pro Hockey Player. Originally from Kelowna, BC he played his midget AAA in Calgary eventually winning a Max Cup. He would play Junior A with the Calgary Royals and participate in a Viking Cup. His pro career would see him play for Toledo, Fayetteville, Pensacol, Motor City and overseas in the British Elite league. With over 100 career fights Brads career has a very interesting perspective. We discuss all this and more during the podcast.

Vice-president of the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) and all while being a full time media host whether on radio or television.
