Come along with me, Shaun Newman, as I track down unique stories centered around current & past athletes. I am a former Junior A, Division 3 hockey player. I spent a short cup of coffee in Finlands Suomi Sarja League and in 2006 biked across Canada. I currently play Senior for the Hillmond Hitmen in the SaskAlta Hockey League.Believe life is an adventure and everyone has a unique story to tell. Here we will try and uncover some of those stories.

    Born and raised in Lloydminster Lance played his juniors with the Red Deer Rebels.     Dewberry's own Kurt Bensmiller was in the studio today. Known for his accolades while driving chuckwagons (4x World Champ) his hockey resume is no less impressive. He played his Junior A with the North Battleford Northstars, a cup of coffee out in Quebec's fighting league,  he helped guide Dewberry Mustangs to 7 straight SaskAlta titles & won an Allan Cup with the Bentley Generals. We also discussed competing against his father Buddy in the Calgary stampede and being in a sport where you can compete until the age of 65.

He graduated from U of A with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and would move to Lloydminster in 1953 where he began his 40 year career with Husky Energy. We discuss the Oil Industry, his endless volunteering where he has been awarded countless medals for his service to the City, Province & Country. Oh and did I mention it was his 64th wedding anniversary... yeah that too. He's quite the guy.
