  • Fisherman's Leap

    24/06/2024 Duration: 01h13min

Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we kicked off a new theme called "Leap," based on the book by wife, mother, Bible teacher, and entrepreneur Rachel G. Scott. The book is called, Taking the 5 Leaps: Experiencing God's Faithfulness as You Respond to His Call. In this book, Rachel equips readers to go from delay to action. What kind of leap are you being invited to make? And how can you prepare, plan, and execute that leap? This book outlines five types of leaps you can take using illustrations from the Bible and personal stories. Today's leap is the "fisherman's leap." Is God calling to leave something behind in order to join Him in something new? If so, then you might need to take the fisherman's leap. • Misplaced Identity

    21/06/2024 Duration: 58min

It's Freedom Friday on Karl and Crew Mornings, and we wrapped up the week with a discussion on misplaced identity. When we base our identity on things like work, relationships, or sinful habits, we lock ourselves back into the prison from which Christ has set us free. This can inhibit us from helping others find full freedom in Christ. Our Scripture reference was Isaiah 61:1, and our special guest is Greg Dempster. He is the the founder and director of ChristLife Ministries, helping Christians remove the chasm that often exists between what they believe to be true about God and what they're experiencing daily. This is an episode you do not want to miss! You can hear all the highlights on the Karl and Crew Showcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  • Expect the Greater Reward

    20/06/2024 Duration: 01h02min

Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we continued our weekly theme, "Four Pillars of Manhood." We discussed the pillar of expecting the greater reward. Many passages of Scripture point to an anticipated reward for our perserverance in the faith. We heard from the Boom Crew about what kinds of training they are currently being called into. We also heard from Mark Jobe about an opportunity to donate to Moody Bible Institute and to help us continue training up disciples for the Kingdom of God. • Lead Courageously

    19/06/2024 Duration: 37min

Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we continued our weekly theme, "Four Pillars of Manhood." But first, we talked with Omer Eshel, CEO and founder of The Bible Comes to Life Travel and Education Center. He gave us an update on what is currently happening with Israel. Then we went to 2 Samuel 16:5-13 to discuss the story of King David and a man named Shimei. This man was cursing David. But rather than retaliating, David said, "Let him curse." Leading courageously starts with listening to the still, small voice of God with a posture of humility. • Accept Responsibility

    18/06/2024 Duration: 53min

Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we continued our weekly theme, "Four Pillars of Manhood." Pillar number 2 is accepting responsibility. Our Scripture reference was 2 Samuel 12. We read about David stepping up and owning his sinful actions concerning Bathsheba and Uriah. There's something so powerful about being able to admit, "I have sinned against the Lord." Today can be the day when you bust through fear and pride and take the courageous step of accepting responsibility. Finally, it's National Fishing Day! We got some great recommendations from the Boom Crew for good fishing spots, and we discussed what it means to be a fisher of men. Listen to all the highlights of today's program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  • Reject Passivity

    17/06/2024 Duration: 50min

Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we kicked off a new weekly theme, "Four Pillars of Manhood." What makes a good man? We discussed pillar number one: rejecting passivity. Passivity is the tendency to move away from responsibility, and it is one of the greatest enemies of biblical manhood. We looked to the story of David and Bathsheba in 2 Samuel 11 as an example of how one passive act can lead to a world of trouble. Rejecting passivity means being decisive, focused, and effective. In which area of your own life do you need to reject passivity? Finally, we loved hearing from the Boom Crew about their Father's Day fun. We hope you had a wonderful Father's Day, and we hope you listen to all the highlights of today's program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  • Choosing Spiritual Freedom

    10/06/2024 Duration: 01h27min

Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we kicked off our theme for the week: Making Choices. We discussed making the choice between spiritual freedom and spiritual slavery. Our Scripture Reference was Galatians 4:21-5:1. Paul uses the story of Hagar and Sarah from the book of Genesis to illustrate the two directions in which one can choose. When we try to take hold of God's promises in our own strength, we choose spiritual slavery. When we lean on God and trust his promises, we choose spiritual freedom. What are some things we can do to buttress, or support, our resolution to walk in spiritual freedom today? Today on Karl and Crew Mornings, we continued our discussion about how to tell if we are spiritually drifting. What do we do when we find ourselves losing our fire and passion for spiritual freedom? Like the seed planted among the thorns in Luke 8, the cares of the world can threaten to choke out our passion for the Gospel. Our Scripture reference this morning was Galatians 4:12-15. The Galatians needed a reminder from Paul of the spiritual passion they once had. One way to tell is by noticing when we have moved from dynamic relationship to mundane ritual in our walk with Jesus. Our Scripture reference this morning was Galatians 4:7-11. The Galatians start strong, but they begin to drift. Paul reminds them (and us) of the truth--that they are known by God and need not turn back to the old systems of life.
