Episodes

  • Superman Batman Public Enemies

    23/03/2016 Duration: 01h11min

Just in time for Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice we watch a film that has the caped crusader and the man of steel working together against the very real threat of gas lighting. It also happens to be oddly prophetic in showing what the United States would look like if a millionaire business man were to win the Presidency. Best of all there is also an Asteroid made of Kryptonite that needs to be stopped before it destroys mankind so you know that Aerosmith is going to be sung eventually

  • Dragnet

    24/02/2016 Duration: 01h50min

It's Mike's birthday so we let him pick the movie and he went with this seminal Dan Akroyd and Tom Hanks gem. Make sure you stay till the end because that's when the most amazing thing ever happens!

  • Kangaroo Jack

    17/02/2016 Duration: 01h32min

In honour of Will going to Australia we watched Kangaroo Jack so he wouldn't have to! The viewing is mostly peppered with us asking two very distinct and important questions. Who is this movie for? and Did Mike actually write the script?

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)

    27/01/2016 Duration: 31min

We sit down to make good on our promise to force Nicki to rematch the nineties classic. Thrill as Devon says all of the lines mere seconds before they happen in the film, assuming you're properly synced up! Gasp in horror as Sam Rockwell plays the bad guy. Prepare to be amazed by all of the knowledge that the friends possess about the film and play along at home as they try to identify when all of the guys who are in the suits appear out of the suits in weird cameos. It's guaranteed to be better than that Michael Bay one from 2014...

  • Men in Black II

    20/01/2016 Duration: 01h30min

Its a Just the Sequels week as we strap ourselves in for the sequel to 1997's Men in Black. Let's just pause for reflection on the fact that Will Smith was in Independence Day in 1996 a hyper serious film with aliens and then decided to follow that up with Men in Black... Of course none of that matters because we are watching the sequel, you know the one that inexplicably features Johnny Knoxville inexplicably! Next time a much better movie, hopefully....

  • Big Trouble in Little China

    13/01/2016 Duration: 01h42min

We're not sure if it was Mike or Nicki who decides to watch Big Trouble in Little China, but we are 99.9% sure that Patrick Swayze isn't actually in it. Pretty sure it's Kurt Russell. For damn sure isn't Andrew McCarthy, no matter how much of a role Kim Cattrall does or doesn't have in this fine John Carpenter film.

  • Brother Bear 2

    06/01/2016 Duration: 01h11min

Going way back to the third episode of our sister series "2 Friends on a Couch" we talked to Jeremiah about Brother Bear 2 and that we would one day force him to watch it. This is that day. To say more would ruin all of your potential enjoyment so strap on in and check out Brother Bear 2 with guest friend Jeremiah

  • Legend (1985)

    30/12/2015 Duration: 01h33min

Tom Cruise in all his messed up toothed glory and Ferris Bueller's future girlfriend (Mia Sara yells Devon's father from the background) are like Adam and Eve and Tim Curry is a horny bastard trying to tempt and corrupt them in a film that makes all 3 Friends first question who Billy Barty is and then his filmography! Perhaps the best bit is that Devon does his best to do a dramatic reading of the opening crawl, but you'll see how that turns out if you take the time to listen along. No wait, wait the best part is that we watched the original version with all of the beautiful synth music by Tangerine Dream!

  • Saving Santa

    23/12/2015 Duration: 01h26min

Nicki still hates Christmas movies, thus it is decided that we will not be watching any Christmas movies next year. With that in mind, we picked a real doozy of a film to finish on with the Martin Freeman neoclassical Christmas gem "Saving Santa" It's about Time Travel you guys and Tim Curry is there, just watch it...

  • I'll Be Home for Christmas

    15/12/2015 Duration: 01h31min

As much as we all love Jonathan Taylor Thomas on the couch (and legitimately we all do in fact LOVE Jonathan Taylor Thomas) this film takes all of the worst parts of Christmas and sprinkles in a sizable amount of questionable behavior. Even the fact that there is a lithe black Santa from the nation of Kenya wasn't enough to salvage this film for Devon and we all know that sort of thing is right in his wheelhouse. Still we have a good time making fun of some of the ridiculousness and if you need a new ringtone of a girl groaning in discontent then Nicki has got you covered!

  • Gremlins

    09/12/2015 Duration: 05min

After trying to find a good Christmas Movie on Netflix, Devon saw Mike’s copy of Gremlins on the shelf and it was decided that for the first time we would go back to a film that we had already Just The Sequel’d and give the, arguably Christmas themed, predecessor a watch. There's more talk about Mogwai rules and how they basically seem like bullshit. We attempt to calculate how many square feet of Gizmos could fit in the studio for before it becomes too much of a problem, We thank the world that Mike and Nicki don't have a Mogwai as a pet as they use a squirt bottle to keep Zook in line, and of course Corey Feldman is there (in the movie, but also in spirit, because he's in our hearts.) So grab a DVD of the film and your patented Bathroom Buddy and join us for Gremlins

  • Christmas Vacation

    30/11/2015 Duration: 01h44min

Due to the wonders of digital recording we have for you today the fifth episode of 3 Friends and a Movie ever recorded. Unfortunately we recorded it last Christmas so by the time it was ready to post, it was already obsolete! Thankfully Christmas happens once a year and its coming around the bend so we get to share it with you now.

  • Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

    25/11/2015 Duration: 01h37min

We finish up Netflix November with a movie that is just stupid. Seriously there is no earthly way it would have been that difficult to get home for Thanksgiving. On the plus side, Kevin Bacon is there... You're Welcome! #FatEyelids

  • xXx: State of the Union

    17/11/2015 Duration: 01h45min

Continuing Netflix November and the "Just the Sequels" train a rollin' we rejoin Samuel L. Jackson and Ice Cube as the new Triple X in a battle against a power hungry Willem Dafoe in a balls to the wall action fest that guarantees 1000% more attitude than its predecessor. Now if you think that us revealing Willem Dafoe as the bad guy is a spoiler then you are just plain wrong. Seriously folks name a film where he plays a good guy... you can't do it and #SamuelLJacksonAgreesWithMe.

  • Tremors 5: Bloodline

    10/11/2015 Duration: 01h44min

How many Tremors movies are there? she asks. Not enough! comes the erudite answer. And with that, we begin Tremors 5: Bloodlines. It was as predictable as it was enjoyable. Featuring the Assblaster incarnation of the Graboid monsters in a new setting and copying shamelessly from other popular films, we had the plot figured out in about the first 20 minutes. But we watched till the end anyways to pat ourselves on the back for being able to figure it out so swiftly. Nicki prefers the native South African word for Assblasters; Impandulu. Enjoy!

  • Beetlejuice

    04/11/2015 Duration: 01h30min

Nicki apologizes. This is our fifth and final Falling for Geena Davis installment, but it's the second film to skip. The first, as you may recall, was A League of Their Own and that was due to a scratched library DVD. Tonight however, the DVD skips because Nicki accidentally nudges the remote with her foot. She's sorry. Devon insinuates that Nicki's entire personality is influenced by Winona Ryder's character, and who knows? Nicki's life has been One. Dark. Room. We compare Beetlejuice to Nightmare Before Christmas, specifically the character of Beetlejuice to Oogie Boogie in NBC. There's plenty to enjoy in tonight's episode of Beetlejui---

  • The Long Kiss Goodnight

    28/10/2015 Duration: 02h03min

Despite Nicki explicitly saying we weren't going to watch this film... Here we are! Honestly though it's pretty great that we did because we got to see Geena at her most bad ass. Plus some how, some way, this is the first movie that we've watched featuring the one and only Samuel L. Jackson. So hunker down like you're an X-Man and watch this Foxy Bitch kick some serious Ass!

  • A League of Their Own

    14/10/2015 Duration: 02h06min

First an apology in 24 episodes of us being three friends watching movies we have never had a problem with the film skipping. This episode we break that streak. Still 25 episodes right that’s not nothing! Anyway we’re still Falling for Geena Davis and Baseball is winding down so this felt appropriate for our third installment. Devon goes ahead and proves that there IS crying in Baseball movies which means that there is probably also crying in baseball so take that Tom Hanks Oh and both women who played the president on Television are in it so that blows some minds!

  • Earth Girls Are Easy

    23/09/2015 Duration: 01h43min

We continue falling for Geena Davis by watching the single greatest musical about Aliens and getting laid ever made. Thrill as real life couple Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum bring their sexual tension to the silver screen. Watch as Jim Carrey is covered in red fur which I can only assume is the reason he thought it would be a good idea to play the Grinch what stole Christmas. Revel as Julie Brown (the non-downtown variant) exclaims "Oh my god you're like totally black!" and then revel again when Damon Wayans repeats it! Finally you to can understand the benefits of being a blonde, if you take the time watch along with us as we learn why Earth Girls Are Easy!

  • Hero

    23/09/2015 Duration: 02h03min

Nicki has chosen our next series and has us "Falling For Geena Davis." It was decided we should start with one that Nicki, and probably the rest of the world, has best seen, 1992's Ne'er-Do-Well comedic drama "Hero." While Dustin Hoffman may be the main character Geena is front and center in the role of Gale Gayley, the hotshot reporter, looking to discover the identity of the titular hero who begrudgingly saved not only the day, but Gale's own life as well! You'll also get to see Andy Garcia fresh off his role of Gray Baker in "Dead Again" but it's probably still not far enough removed from the role of Vincent Mancini in the third part of The Godfather for you to have gotten that taste out of your mouth. It also features an uncredited Chevy Chase (which is probably my favorite brand of Chevy Chase is we're being honest). Finally it confronts a lot of the issues we have in the media today a full 23 years ahead of their time.
