Informações:

Synopsis

Podtoid is Destructoid's long-running video game podcast. It has gone through several iterations with a plethora of cast members, but it has always been a place for raw video game discussion with some of your favorite Destructoid editors. Current cast includes Zack Furniss, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura.

Episodes

  • Podtoid 382: Candy Corn is the Worst

    12/10/2017 Duration: 01h37min

This episode marks the end of an era. Steven Hansen, host of Podtoid for the past year or so, is leaving Destructoid. Podtoid will go into remission for a bit, until it springs up again when you least expect it. On this episode, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, Darren Nakamura, and Ray Porreca talk about prison, weddings, Cuphead, Golf Story, horror movies, and what's next on the agenda. Of course, the episode rounds out with some listener questions, the last (unfair) round of SATPOTPAQ, and the last (very fair) round of the Hot Dish. It's about communism!

  • Podtoid 381: The Destiny 2 Special

    21/09/2017 Duration: 01h14min

Bungie's loved/hated shared world shooter series just saw its second full release with Destiny 2. How'd it turn out? Jordan Devore, Darren Nakamura, and Ray Porreca gathered around the broken fountain on The Farm to talk about luminous engrams, Dominus Ghauls, and Frumious Blue. Also, how Hunters are the best class, and Nightstalker is the best subclass. Later on answered a few listener questions, then capped off the episode with a Hot Dish revolving around the glorious idea of putting Asher Mir into a rocket ship and shooting him to some far off land. Seriously, the dude sucks.

  • Podtoid 380: Give a Mime Some Fountainhead

    08/09/2017 Duration: 01h20min

PAX West 2017 just finished, and we've got some tales to tell of our time up there. Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura talk a little bit about the best and worst of PAX West, including hanging out with Taco Bell PR and staying in a fake Airbnb. Game highlights include Final Fantasy XV, Celeste, Kentucky Route Zero, and Where the Water Tastes Like Wine. Non-game highlights include a ringing endorsement for beef jerky and a discussion on road trips. We bring back a segment of Metacritic Morons for Destiny 2's launch, answer some listener questions, and of course, round out the episode with a SATPOTPAQ and a PAX-themed Hot Dish. Give it a listen!

  • Episode 379: Everyone Had Syphilis Back Then

    30/08/2017 Duration: 55min

Look, it's late, I still need to pack for PAX, and thus, I have no idea what's in this episode of Podtoid. The title was taken from the first soundbite I randomly checked. It's a grab bag! I'll hear it in full for the first time on my plane flight to Seattle. Hopefully it's good! But seriously I think Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca briefly talked about Mario + Rabbids. Then they probably did listener questions and a SATPOTPAQ. Next episode we'll actually have video game stuff to talk about from PAX. It'll be good. But maybe this one is good too!

  • Podtoid 378: The Four-Way

    18/08/2017 Duration: 01h09min

It's been a few weeks, so we're rolling four deep. You got your Steven Hansen, your Brett Makedonski, your Darren Nakamura, AND your Ray Porreca. It's 33% more Podtoid Boy for your ears. The crew mostly talked about recent travels to bachelor parties and Mexico. Darren hasn't been anywhere interesting lately, but he is going to the path of totality for the solar eclipse on Monday. Maybe this whole post should be about how the solar eclipse is when the moon is between the sun and the earth. Perhaps Steven would learn something. Otherwise, we talked about Sonic Mania and Tacoma, then rounded out the episode with the ol' listener questions, SATPOTPAQ, and a U.S. state-themed Hot Dish.

  • Podtoid 377: Floyd Mayweather's Questionable Literacy

    05/08/2017 Duration: 01h04min

Another long summer week without much happening, another episode where the Podtoid crew kind of just shoots the breeze for 45 minutes before finally talking about a video game. Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca hit a potpourri of topics including ranking frozen pizza brands, how to make money on YouTube, The Mooch (who is already outdated since this recording), Early 1900s women's fashion, how to remove a human head, why anabolic steroids are good actually, and whether Floyd Mayweather can read and write. Eventually, the topic rolls around to the upcoming sequel Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, which Steven previewed a while back but only now can talk about. Of course, the episode rounds out with listener questions (including a very good question about artificial meat asked by a presumably handsome individual) and SATPOTPAQ. Listen up!

  • Podtoid 376: Ugly Baby Poo Colored Balls

    22/07/2017 Duration: 01h15min

Oh boy, it's a slow week for video games, which means it's a great week for just hanging out and talking about whatever comes to mind. These include topics such as Geoff Keighley being video games' press secretary and how being Twitter verified allows freedom to be an asshole. There was some video game talk, like our new YouTube Channel Dtoid Fights, which currently has streams of the D-Team running around in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Look for more there. There was also some Destiny 2 beta talk, but Darren's unscrupulous captors only allowed him about a minute to talk about that. After that were some listener questions about the upcoming PAX West thing, the weekly SATPOTPAQ, and a Podtoid Hot Dish focused on the moon.

  • Podtoid 375: Get Rid of Your Ghosts

    14/07/2017 Duration: 01h23min

We're back from break! Or some of us are. In this episode, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca reminisce on the past month or so since they last got together and talked like good podcast boys. Some of the games they talked about were PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Micro Machines, Get Even, and of course, Rocket League. Get Steven and Brett together and they're going to talk about Rocket League. It's like a running joke that isn't funny. Other topics include Brett's new PC, how quickly Steven poops, and how a blast from a powerful jet engine could kill you. Listen up!

  • Podtoid 374: The Melty Boys take on E3 2017

    23/06/2017 Duration: 01h27min

On this episode of Podtoid, the crew gets a new nickname in "The Melty Boys," but mostly Steven Hansen and Brett Makedonski talk about their escapades at E3 2017. Darren Nakamura joins to inject how things looked from the outside, and also to bring his special brand of handsomeness and class. Games mentioned are Super Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Metal Gear Survive, Anthem, and Destiny 2. The episode caps off with some listener question quick hits, a productive round of SATPOTPAQ, and a Hot Dish featuring words with three E's in them.

  • Episode 373: Was Jesus a Punk-Ass Bitch?

    08/06/2017 Duration: 01h25min

On this episode of Podtoid, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca gear up for E3 next week. They give their predictions and hopes, and decide what the big three platform holders will have to do in order to "win" E3. Outside of that, there's also some discussion on bad science, conspiracy theories, Donkey Kong fanfic, and some probably sacrilegious heresy. Of course, there are some listener questions thrown in there, and the episode caps off with SATPOTPAQ. Listen before E3!

  • Podtoid 372: Dip Spit Rig

    02/06/2017 Duration: 01h21min

In this episode of Podtoid, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura talk about dental hygiene, Destructoid's E3 party, and Tom Brady's dietary restrictions. Some games discussed were Rime, Injustice 2, and a little bit of Rocket League The show caps off with some listener questions, a bountiful SATPOTPAQ, and a Podtoid Hot Dish focused on fictional countries

  • Podtoid 371: Misbehaving Jewish teens

    31/05/2017 Duration: 01h02min

On this episode of Podtoid, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca talk about indie roguelike Dead Cells, the buzz around Battlegrounds, and some Prey Metacritic user reviews. Additionally, the crew hits on topics like Brett's karmic retribution, how good the city of Phoenix is, and fidget spinners. Of course, the episode caps off with some listener questions and another round of SATPOTPAQ.

  • Podtoid 370: Darren's Mr. Whippy

    22/05/2017 Duration: 01h24min

On this episode of Podtoid, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura talked about the RompHim, avocado toast, making sandwiches, and also some video games probably. Some of the games were Prey, Mages of Mystralia, and Surviving Mars (along with other games at PDXCON). As usual we cap out the show with an aquatic-themed SATPOTPAQ and a PlayStation 2-focused Hot Dish.

  • Podtoid 369: British People Can Say Cunt

    08/05/2017 Duration: 01h16min

In this episode of Podtoid, independent developer Alex Rose joins Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca to talk about his recently released game Super Rude Bear Resurrection and game development in general. Additional topics include British swear words, a stolen lawnmower, a terrible bird pun, and the seemingly neverending saga of Brett and his gangbangs. The episode caps out with another edition of SATPOTPAQ tailor-made for its participants.

  • Podtoid 368: Botched Circumcision

    27/04/2017 Duration: 01h11min

In this episode of Podtoid, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura get together to talk about What Remains of Edith Finch, Scanner Sombre, machinima, Juicero, and circumcisions. Darren still holds a commanding lead in this week's SATPOTPAQ, but perhaps Brett will begin to strike back. Then we end the show on a Hot Dish full of very bad singing.

  • Podtoid 367: Tossing the Presidential Salad

    19/04/2017 Duration: 01h18min

On this episode of Podtoid, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca talk about eating ass. Lots and lots of eating ass. Also, Field of Dreams/ejaculation pun. (More like Field of Creams, am I right?) Also, the gang touches on The Sexy Brutale, the correct pronunciation of "brutale," Persona 5, the Wii U's best games, and sauerkraut. Of course, the episode is capped off with the Internet's premier volcano trivia game, SATPOTPAQ.

  • Podtoid 366: The Yooka-Laylee Special

    14/04/2017 Duration: 58min

In this special episode, Jordan Devore, Steven Hansen, and Brett Makedonski talk about the recently released mascot platformer Yooka-Laylee. How does it hold up to the Banjo-Kazooies and the Super Mario 64s? Did the crew love it, or were they more looka-warmie on it? Could we possibly do an hour-long podcast where it's all mascot gibberish? (The answer is yes, but you might not want to listen to it.)

  • Podtoid 365: The Thunder Event

    07/04/2017 Duration: 01h13min

This is Podtoid number 365, which means you could listen to one episode of the show for every day of the year, not counting leap years. But there won't be another leap year until 2020, so that's not a worry. In this episode, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura talked about Snake Pass, Yooka-Laylee, volcanoes, car chases, and gangbangs. We rounded out the episode with an extended listener questions segment, along with a SATPOTPAQ about brass knuckles and giant signs, then a Hot Dish on terrible Metacritic user reviews.

  • Podtoid 364: I Saved Space Hitler

    24/03/2017 Duration: 01h37min

Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura are around for this episode of Podtoid, in which we talk more about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, talk more about Mass Effect Andromeda, and talk more about Rocket League's new mode Dropshot. It's like a sequel to the last episode. Additional topics include corn dogs, movies, and the horror of finding a scorpion inside your bathrobe. Of course, we end the episode with SATPOTPAQ and a Zelda-focused Hot Dish.

  • Podtoid 363: Not Great with Numbers

    21/03/2017 Duration: 01h37min

In this rousing episode of Podtoid, Brett and Steven recount their time at GDC, while newcomer Ray Porreca talks about what he saw at PAX East. The team also talks about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, discusses Nier Automata, and fumbles through an eighth grade math problem. Also they make a plan to sabotage Darren even though he's the one who edits the show and uploads it and writes the descriptions? Look, it wasn't very well thought out. The episode concludes with a SATPOTPAQ in which somebody almost scores a point.
