Sermon from Colossians 1:15-23 (Part 2)

When Jesus is asked a question by a "religious man" trying to test him, Christ appeals to the man's heart, showing him that he hasn't lived up to the law that he knows so well. Jesus shows that Christians should be more concerned with winning souls than winning arguments.

John encourages believers to love one another by pointing us back to the highest expression of love there has ever been, and reminding us that our love for God and each other is merely in response to the love He has shown to us.

One decision made with a desire to please self rather than to please God can cause a christian to find themselves in a mess they never should have been in. Are you courageous enough to win them back for the Lord? ​ "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." (Galatians 6:1)

The committed soldier lays his life on the line for the country that calls on him to fight. The committed athlete plays within the confine of the rules in order to win the prize. The committed farmer is able to rejoice in the harvest after having poured himself into his crop. Being a follower of Jesus Christ isn't for the faint of heart, are you committed?
