  • SPECTRM020 - Shriekin' Specialist

    20/03/2014 Duration: 45min

The Spectrm Podcast series returns for our second mix of 2014 (yes we know it's mid-March) with a mix from Shriekin' Specialist (aka Jack Sheehan) and it's nothing short of spectacular. In his own words, "i just wanted to play loads of mad stuff". You may have heard Jack's music in Slackk's monthly mixes and regular radio shows which have become a platform for many promising new grime producers. His highly melodic, densely layered tracks have already caught the ears of Local Action's Tom Lea (alongside many others, including Murlo, Rabit and Glacial Sound, to name a few) who recently confirmed that there's an EP on the way. We're looking forward to seeing what 2014 has in store for him, for now, enjoy this mix. • SPECTRM018 - Donga

    11/08/2013 Duration: 01h03min

After a short break over the summer period spent basking in rays of sun we are back with our 18th instalment of the podcast series and a mix from a very special guest, Donga. The head honcho of Brighton based, Well Rounded Records has been collecting, listening and adoring vinyl for the majority of his life and fuelling this passion for vinyl is an unrelenting love of music. The result of such an infatuation is a very talented selector, memorable DJ sets and, here, some bluddy great blends. Throughout the summer Well Rounded have been hosting Friday nights at Brighton’s LIFE Club. The night begins at 10pm on the club’s terrace and it is those early, warming hours that Donga has chosen to showcase in this mix, providing a lovely progression to the mix. Memorable vocal tracks stand alongside slick house grooves throughout this hour journey – a very welcome return of the podcast! Largin’ up Well Rounded, always! Tracklist 1. Bocca Juniors – 'Raise (Philly House Skank)' [Junior Boys Own] 2. It's Immaterial – 'D

  • SPECTRM017 - Parris

    03/06/2013 Duration: 57min

This month's podcast comes from Parris, the man behind young label Soundman Chronicles. He's put out music from Gantz & J. Robinson, and the next release is coming from Brighton based producer, Etch. Parris provides a heavyweight 17th podcast and brings the first vinyl only guest mix to the series (quite fitting as Parris can also be found working downstairs at one of london's greatest record shops, BM Soho). The mix is pure darkness/fire/vibes, containing plenty of dubplates from some of the best names in the 130-140bpm sound right now, including Wen, Rabit, E.M.M.A. and Facta, to name but a few. Fire riddims from Parris to you, enjoy! • SPECTRM016 - Breen

    03/05/2013 Duration: 57min

For this months podcast, we bring you a mix from Breen. We first noticed him after a couple of his tunes were picked up by Kahn & Neek, and of course current taste-makers, Dusk & Blackdown, and he’s now getting regular plays wherever you listen. The mix is pure fire, moving from an atmospheric synthy opening into those murky strings of Kowton’s collab with the Kelly Twins, Breen brings it ‘ard from the start. Other highlights for us include his solo production H O L L O W, the forthcoming Logos remix of Rabit’s Double Dragon, and the new MssingNo tracks, but we could go on and on… We’ll let Breen’s selections do the rest. Enjoy listening. www.facebook.com/music.breen // www.facebook.com/spectrmpodcast www.spectrm.co.uk/016

  • SPECTRM015 - Second Birthday

    24/04/2013 Duration: 59min

It’s our 15th podcast episode, we’ve been doing this Spectrm thing for 2 years and we thought we’d show you what we’re doing right about now. It’s a Spectrm Second Birthday Mix. Those blends start with Markings showcasing the tunes and the general vibe he’s feeling right now, having spent 7 months living in Brighton scene. An atmospheric opening leads on to a techno base with the blips of Shifted’s new release on Avian and State’s forthcoming ‘Coding’ leading the mix. The second half of this hour podcast is mixed by Marcx, whose time spent playing and producing 140BPM, grime influenced tunes in the past months is clearly visible in his blends. A healthy dose of Hip Hop from Travis Porter and new bits from the likes of Samename, Rabit, Breen & Annoy, not to mention his own dubplates, make for a serious journey. This mix is a nice reflection of where we’re at with Spectrm and our own escapades right now and where we see ourselves moving in the next year. Biggup all those that make Spectrm worth doing, it a

  • SPECTRM014 - Chow Down

    24/04/2013 Duration: 01h04min

This month’s podcast is brought to you in conjunction with Chow Down Manchester. Mixed by resident, Gumbleton, the mix showcases the kind of vibes you’d expect to encounter at the night which is reaching it’s second birthday (the 13th of March to be precise), where they’ll be welcoming Jacques Greene to Mint Club in Manchester. Over the past two years the night has gone from strength to strength, with guests including Loefah, Swindle, Joy O, Bok Bok and DJ Q. Now Pauper and Legoboy are running 3 monthly nights in 3 different venues in Manchester, all of which contribute strongly to the ever growing Manchester music scene, the Chow Down boys clearly know what they’re doing and this mix is no exception. Highlights of the mix include Damu’s acidy remix of Artifact and the dark vibes of My Nu Leng’s “The Grid”, not to mention Mella Dee & Squarehead’s collaboration “Get Together” that is justifiably still doing the rounds. Tracklist Cassio Kohl - Realist Love - Amadeus Records Barrington – Forever - petFood

  • SPECTRM013 - Taneli

    22/04/2013 Duration: 49min

For our first podcast of 2013, we bring you this brilliant mix from Taneli. With his tracks receiving support from the likes of B Traits on Radio 1 and DJ Caspa on Rinse, 2013 looks set to be a very big year for the young Preston-based producer and DJ. This mix definitely supports that claim. Highlights include the classic rolling vibes of A Lister - Needing and an elusive acid based number from an unknown producer (who should reveal himself so we can all shake his hand and offer him a pat on the back). An excellent soundtrack to any 50 minute activity or relaxaton period, this mix of some great house music is a fantastic way to start off the podcast in 2013. Largin’ up the Taneli.
