    19/01/2016 Duration: 15min

Roam Rydes Podcast RSS I first met Meg Valliant almost exactly a year ago. I had several short interactions with her over the course of a three day biking camp in the Arizona desert . . . she was mountain biking, I was road cycling. . . we shared loud evenings of bliss with 35 other women under the night sky next to a camp fire over a few bottles of fireball and whiskey (although I don't remember seeing Meg drink...mostly because I don't remember much), we gleefully sang fairly out-of-tune pop ballads and rock classics late into the last night together. It was epic. Meg catching some air. Click here for The Sisterhood of Shred link!Click here for the Sweetlines mountain

  • Kidical Mass

    20/10/2015 Duration: 18min

We've reached kidical mass. There has been a shift in the way we raise our kids here in AMERICA.Kids should be loved and adored. They should play with their parent’s iPhones from infancy lest they get behind the ever-changing technology. Preschool isn’t for four-year-olds anymore… a child should be potty-trained as quickly as possible so they can join the ranks of two-year-olds being marched into their educational careers before they can complete full sentences. Unstructured play? Weekends spent unplugged and out of wifi range in nature? Being let loose around the neighborhood with friends? Cardboard boxes that turn into space ships and pirate ships and cruise ships? Nah. That’s old school. And it is dangerous. Sound about right? As technology and social expectations have increasingly dictated parenting choices ov

Then an opportunity of a lifetime comes along, and you take it... a little too far. MUSIC FEATURED IN THIS WEEK'S PODCAST - UNEXPECTED GRATITUDEThe Oh Hello's - Lay Me DownKai Engel - Interlude - In Anxious ShadowsJames Blackshaw - Past Has Not Passed This episode of Roam Rydes is not just about the life-changing accident that happened to Carrie on sunny winter day in Colorado. • Thrive

    24/02/2015 Duration: 13min

Roam Rydes Podcast RSS Gianna and Steph...the ultimate thrivers.  There are people out there who have overcome incredible life setbacks... and then there are people like Stephanie Hathaway who don't just overcome adversity, they conquer it. A week ago my life was different. I shall now refer to this time period (lasting from birth through the last 29 years and 9 months) as PS, or Pre-Steph, because thats how much a single conversation changed my life. I'm hoping that the thirteen minutes I was able to procure from my conversation with Steph over a cup of coffee is enough to do justice to this woman's story of survivorship. If one were to d

  • Bike Shop Bella

    22/01/2015 Duration: 18min

Roam Rydes Podcast RSS Finding a good friend can sometimes feel like winning the lottery. Or at least that's what it felt like for me when I met Kelly. Not only does she wrench on bikes as a mechanic...she loves to mountain bike...and she is all-around an incredibly fun, funny, and friggin' smart woman. The kind of person I like to be around in hopes some of those awesome qualities rub off. Kelly and I spend the vast majority of our time over the phone and in-person talking about bikes. Surprise, surprise. Kelly, like me, is opinionated, hopeful, and ambitious about the progression of women in cycling. We were chatting about ideas for the next Roam Rydes podcast when it struck me - Kelly is exac

  • Trail Unicorns

    28/12/2014 Duration: 15min

Roam Rydes Podcast RSS Van life is so sweet.  For weeks I have been following whatever whim happens to strike me, zigzagging up and down the coast of California in the pursuit of adventure, new friends, and quality time with the folks I hold near and dear to my heart. I’ve had the unique advantage of time – total unadulterated, unobligated, unplanned time, to decide what the hell to do with my life. When you have no obligations, what exactly does drive you to get up in the morning, gulp down that savory cup of joe, and head out into the great big world?   Over the past few weeks this answer ha
