Synopsis
Over half of all intimate-partner homicides are committed with guns. A woman is five times more likely to be murdered when her abuser has access to a gun. October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. On this episode of Radio GAG, we focus on the tragic relationship of violence that destroys lives across America and is a factor in too many mass shootings. Our “In Memoriam” honors the sister of domestic violence advocate Barbara Pierce Stowe. We will hear the latest gun violence prevention news: including a crop of lawsuits against firearms manufacturers and the interplay between the Second Amendment and the insurrectionists who rioted at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. And we’ll hear from advocacy organizations including We All Really Matter (W.A.R.M), a domestic-violence intervention organization in Harlem. Sarah Germain Lilly and Robert DeDominic host, Sarah and Ti Cersley produce. Graphics: @art_dictator , Production Team: Sean Stefanic, Libby Edwards.
