Layana talks about her new project and collection created during quarantine in New York City, her Fashion Squad School and the opportunities created for her by Project Runway, particularly from friend and supporter Tim Gunn. They discuss Layana's upbringing in Brazil and the crazy circumstances that led her to the US, and how she discovered her love for design by actually watching Project Runway and eventually enrolling in F.I.T. Layana Aguilar's brand of her own name was established in 2013, and her production is clean, ethical, and supports domestic manufacturing by being fully designed and created in her studio in New York. In the next few weeks, her Fashion Designer in a Box subscription kits will be launching, as well as her new collection titled "Still We Rise" based on a quote from Maya Angelou and supporting her mixed heritage and Black Lives.
