The Sign of the Covenant" Genesis 17:1-27 Synopsis: God spoke to Abram and changed his name to Abraham, affirming the covenant He made that Abraham would be the father of many nations. God established circumcision as the sign of the covenant, and Abraham believed without wavering his wife Sarah would bear a son. In receiving Communion we celebrate the new covenant established by faith in Jesus and His shed blood, the new and living way to approach God through His death and resurrection.
