Excerpt from an oral history interview with Austin City Council member Emma Long. The interview was conducted by Anthony Orum on April 13, 1982. Emma Long explains in this interview how she campaigned in the 1950s for her place on City Council using “I’m for Emma” stickers, signs, radio broadcasts, and even television. Her liberal politics also led her to being identified as a Communist during this era of McCarthyism. (Image PICB 05228)
