Becoming a disciple is not based upon righteous works or personal goodness. Rather, it is the acceptance of the free gift of a brand new life as given by Jesus’ salvific work at Calvary and the grateful response of living a life fully submitted to God. Therefore Christian leaders must be intentional about the process of helping people grow in grace and the knowledge of Christ by drawing closer to God, nurturing their spirits, loving their neighbors, and fulfilling their purpose.
