Breaking Barriers: January - Dolley Madison

Informações:

Synopsis

Welcome to the Breaking Barriers series of our A Little Louder Now podcasts. During this series, Alex and Alicia shine a light on two trailblazing women in a different themed topic each month. These two take their fangirling seriously and are excited to share about women who broke down barriers and reached back to pull up the next generation. This month, our topic is Pioneering First Ladies. Our featured First Lady for this episode is Dolley Madison, the woman who defined the role of the President's spouse. Mrs. Madison did so much more than save the portrait of George Washington when the British burned the White House during the War of 1812. She worked tirelessly to promote bipartisan cooperation by providing an environment where members of all parties could socialize, network and negotiate amicably. Take a listen! Music and Editing by Jennifer Szakolczay Learn more about Dolley Madison: https://www.nyhistory.org/womens-history/education/curriculum/saving-washington/module-1-unofficial-politician/introdu
