Deriving from the Greek word litenia, which means supplication, the Church makes great use of these prayers during many of its ceremonies and processions. Why is that? When and why did the Church begin using litanies and from where does this practice come? We'll explore the major litanies and how they can be put into practice in the day-to-day life of Catholics. We'll explore the devotional aspect of the litanies and what the significance of each is.
