Haydn Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (1) George Macdonald said that half the misery in the world comes from people trying to look, or to be, what they are not. We are never more fully what God has designed us to be than when, like Mary of Bethany, we devote ourselves to being at Jesus’ feet: “Mary has chosen the better part, and it will not be taken from her.” (2) The true contemplative spends time apart on behalf of the many, bringing those who either cannot or will not come for themselves; they are thus never more in company than when they appear most on their own. This is the time and this is the place to receive the flow of your leading when your thoughts glide in on the high tide of your grace, one idea intersecting and interconnecting with another. Let
