All too often we hear an overly romantic sentiment "I just want you to be happy!" or something else to that effect. It creates a feeling of martyrdom. 'I will sacrifice my happiness and be of service to you, because you complete me. As long as you're happy, I'm happy. If you're not happy, I have failed you, and I should jump off a cliff.'
