I worked as a receptionist in various brothels around Melbourne in the late 1990s. I probably graced the phones, laundries and condom bins of about 10 different places all up, so I feel as though I got a pretty good picture of the local industry as a whole in that time. This year I started searching for someone to school me in the brave new world of the sex industry. To catch me up on what I’d missed and to help to understand how I’d got it so wrong when I blithely shared my thoughts with the world.
