Earlier this month the North Carolina Legislature passed HB2 a discriminatory law taking aim at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and especially the Transgender communities. There are several things involved in HB2 but the one that has gotten the most attention is the requirement that anyone using a public or school multiuser bathroom must use the bathroom assigned to the gender on that person’s birth certificate.This sweeping law reverses ordinance that Charlotte, NC that extended some rights to people who are gay or transgender and nullified local ordinances around the state that would have expanded protections for the LGBT community.In the wake of the passage of North Carolina’s HB2, nearly 70 clergy from several faith traditions pledged to do whatever they can to overturn North Carolina’s controversial new law. The Rev.
