She is a dedicated leader who has also served Klein ISD in the roles of deputy superintendent, chief learning officer, executive director, principal, assistant principal, and classroom teacher. She first became an educator in Uzbekistan where many of her first students were girls who had never had the opportunity to attend school, and their resilience and tenacious desire to learn captured her heart.   Dr. McGown has recently been named the 2019 Outstanding Woman in Education by the American Association of University Women-North Harris County Branch for her contributions to the field of education.
