During the time of Malachi, the priests and the people were despising God's name by the kind of sacrifices they were offering. They gave their worst animals rather than their best. This "leftover" mentality can plague us in the church today. Living mediocre Christian lives never pleases God. He gave His best to us, therefore we should worship Him with our best.
