But in the New 52 Universe, in "Phantom Stranger" #0 by Dan Didio and Brent Anderson, his origin has been explicitly tied to a religious and biblical story. This is perhaps the closest a mainstream comic has come to making Judeo-Christian characters legitimate players in a fictional universe. What does this mean theologically?
