LaShawn Dobbs (wife to Pastor Marc Dobbs) born Tameika LaShawn Filyaw, was raised in West Haven, Connecticut in a Christian home. At a young age she had been sexually abused by her adopted cousin who was several years older than her. She never told anyone during her youth, instead she lived with the hurt, pain and constant torment of the abuse. As an adolescent she became another statistic. She was pregnant with her first child at the age of 15 and a high school dropout. This was not the life she envisioned for herself as a young child. She had goals for a bright future. Goals of going to law school or possibly becoming a model. But instead she struggled with low self-esteem, no self-worth and an alcohol addiction. After 12 long years of a downward spiral, she gave her life to Christ in November of 2003.                                  In 2012 LaShawn had finally realized her purpose and passion.  She began to write her literary debut Broken, But Now I AM Healed.
