By the time Keith Gabel, the defending Snowboarder X Adaptive champion had his leg amputated following an industrial accident, he had already experienced a lifetime of trauma: homelessness, parental drug abuse and the witnessing of his stepfather's suicide. But losing his left leg at age 21 to a skid steer's stabilizer bar only improved his career as a snowboarder. Today, Keith is the defending X Games Snowboarder X Adaptive gold medalist, a Paralympic medalist headed to Pyeongchang, South Korea, and a World Cup winner with a goal of sharing his story through professional speaking.
