As a young boy, he already noticed that he had been born with special powers. He experienced repeatedly how sick animals and people were healed in his presence. As the son of a bricklayer foreman, it was his father’s desire for him to learn a building trade, so he studied carpentry. Because of the economic destitution in his hometown of Gdansk, he could not complete his apprenticeship. Until shortly before the end of World War 2, he accepted various types of work.
