Some of Paul's last directions to Timothy was to "preach the word". This encouragement was founded on the reality of Christ's return and the hearts of man turning ever more away from biblical truth. Paul encourages Timothy to commit to God's mission in the world. That directive is still active for all who call Christ, Lord.
