Today's gospel reminds us of the importance of committing ourslevs to Christ full heartedly. Unlike the three men that Jesus encountered on the way to Jeruslaem, we His disciples cannot just "get involved", we must make a commitment. If we do not make a commitment now, we will not make any commitment at all.
