Synopsis
Providing a safe home for orphaned children in Zambia Africa. After working as a volunteer with children in Zambia in 2005, Malerie Pratt, from Bend, Oregon, realized that something desperately needed to be done to help the children in Zambia. In Zambia she met social worker, Violet Membe, who had always dreamed of starting a home for orphaned children. Malerie came back from that trip and experience wanting to make a difference in the lives of the children she had met there. She teamed up with Marlena Bellavia and they co-founded Vima Lupwa Homes. You'll hear in our interview how their home is unique in many ways and the impact they've made so far. They are working diligently to raise money to start building a second home. The Cards for Kids event information can all be found here. You can also visit the GoFundMe campaign to learn more and donate there if you'd like.
