Synopsis

One of the turning points of the Second World War was the dams raid of 1943, involving Commonwealth aircrews who flew a daring, nighttime, treetop-level raid all the way from Britain to Germany to bomb the Ruhr River dams with a never-before-tried bounding bomb. In the U.K. the air raid is celebrated as if it were a national holiday. Most don't realize, however, a quarter of the 130 men who flew the "Dam Buster" raid were Canadians - 20 from Western Canada, several from Calgary!  We talk with author Ted Barris about his latest book, "Dam Busters."
