Memorial of St. John Neumann, 1811-1860; born in what is now the Czech Republic, and came to New York at 25; ordained a priest, and joined the Redemptorists; did missionary work in Maryland, Virginia, and Ohio; as bishop of Philadelphia, he organized the parochial school system into a diocesan one, and drew many teaching religious to the city Wednesday after Epiphany Office of Readings and Morning Prayer for 1/5/22 Gospel: Mark 6:45-52
