Winning at the Olympics with T1D: Gold Medalist Gary Hall, Jr

Informações:

Synopsis

When Gary Hall Jr was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1999 his doctors told him to give up competitive swiming and drop out of the 2000 Olympics. Instead, he charged ahead and became the first person with T1D to take home an Olympic Gold Medal. Hall won Gold in Sydney in 2000 and again in Athens in 2004, adding to the medals he’d won in 1996 before his diagnosis. Stacey caught up to Gary at this summer’s Friends for Life Conference and asked him how he got past what his doctors told him. He also shared what he tells newly diagnosed families today.
