On February 22, 2016, the impaired driver exited the Holland Tunnel from New York City and drove southbound on the New Jersey Turnpike extension toward the toll booths at Interchange 14C in Jersey City, according to court records. At the same time, Timothy O’Donnell was also driving southbound. He had stopped at the leftmost toll booth to obtain a toll ticket, with his five-year-old daughter, Bridget, in the backseat.
