In today's sermon, we explored the profound story of Zacchaeus and his encounter with Jesus, as recounted in Luke 19. Zacchaeus, a wealthy chief tax collector, was despised by his community for his collaboration with the Roman authorities and his fraudulent practices. Despite his social status and wealth, Zacchaeus experienced a deep sense of spiritual emptiness and sought to see who Jesus was. His curiosity and determination led him to climb a sycamore tree, as his short stature prevented him from seeing over the crowd. Jesus, aware of Zacchaeus's presence, called him by name and invited himself to stay at Zacchaeus's house. This divine appointment was met with grumbling from the crowd, who could not understand why Jesus would associate with a notorious sinner.
