Shooting After Effects Almost Ended His Life. As a Deputy Sheriff he was involved in a deadly shooting. He talks about the call for service, what happened, what led up to his shooting, the investigation of the shooting. Although he survived the shooting, his life began to change and spiral out of control from the traumatic effects of that incident combined with all the others in his law enforcement career as a deputy sheriff. Alcohol abuse, depression and other symptoms of PTS caused his life to spiral out of control and ended his 15 year law enforcement career. Regan graduated a top of his 35-member Police Academy Class of 2000.  He was expeditiously hired by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in October of 2000 and began his decorated career helping the community that he had grown up in.  Regan worked as a Road Deputy for his first three years of service and then steadily made progress, advancing his career within the Agency.
