Synopsis: In the first chapter of Ecclesiastes, Solomon asserts his conclusion after observing everything under the sun: all is vanity, meaningless and futile. Everything is full of unceasing labour in cycles that seem repetitive and pointless. The vanity of life by God's grace draws us to Himself to discover fulfilment and satisfaction is found only in God who created and loves us.
