On October 25th, two women and their pet dogs were rescued after drifting in the Pacific Ocean for more than five months. Jennifer Appel and Natasha Fuiava were picked up 900 miles southeast of Japan. The pair had set sail from Hawaii on May 3rd bound for Tahiti and the passage should have taken no more than three weeks. What happened? Well, their explanations have met with a barrage of criticism. People simply don’t believe their story and sailors particularly have been very quick to point out the inconsistencies. Boat Radio plans to speak to Miss Appel and Miss Fuiava but, while we wait to arrange and schedule that interview, we thought it a good idea to chat with Dr Linus Wilson.
