Hopeland encouraged Jemuel's interest and gave lessons to him beginning at age seven. Part of that instruction was a study of classical works. Those years of study influenced and motivated Jemuel, and continue today as a major influence in his life.Jemuel's artistry is a reflection of the music he has heard, from that first exposure to classical music to jazz, blues, gospel, and spirituals.
