"You have to be out in the world to let people know that you are in the world." One of the mentors of our host Karleigh Webb told her that at the start of her own journey. Last week, a young television reporter in Des Moines, Iowa acted on that axiom boldly. Nora J.S. Reichardt, a bright-eyed 24-year-old working up through the ranks at WOI-TV not just covered the news, last week she was the news. Reichardt stepped into her truth as a transgender woman and shared the story with most of the nation's 72nd-largest television market.
