Amos tells us to seek God and live but so often we simply seek to live [in ease]. We live in nice houses, we eat nice food and enjoy our time of leisure and, in seeking to live, we forget to actually seek God. Now, there isn’t anything wrong with boisterous singing or sleeping in a nice bed, but Amos asks several hard questions of us: Are we forgetting that God will judge? Are we exploiting and harming those we oversee? Are we actually acting self-righteously, ignoring the injustice around us?
