Becoming one with the wave. Being one with the board. But it is far more than just mere sport…it is a metaphor for life. For surfers, riding is existence itself. Surfing is life and life is surfing. Our culture has been permeated by surfing. From the “Shaka” sign, to phrases like “Hang Loose” and terms like “bail”, popular music, skateboarding, snowboarding, clothing and even car design, surfing has been a literal birthing ground for subcultures across the globe for decades.
