Pastors are burning out and leaving the ministry at an alarming rate. Recent studies say that about 85% of seminary graduates will not make it past five years in ministry and only 1 in 10 of those who start their careers as pastors will finish them as one. Many resources have been devoted to studying the causes and prevention of pastoral failure, but far fewer have been devoted to understanding pastoral restoration. This needs to change. In this podcast, Chris shares four leadership stages you can use to replicate leadership in someone else and talks about the importance of instruction and practice. Working through each stage gives you a chance to give positive encouragement and constructive critique which effectively equips someone to replicate what you do. Chris also provides a tool at the end of the podcast that will help you think through the environments you are in and get clear on how to develop leaders around you.
