Several high-profile South African influencers – most notably Cyan Boujee, alongside Peachy Sprinkles, Ghost Hlubi, Seemah, and Zillewizzy – have recently promoted the Russian “Alabuga Start programme, a two-year work-study initiative.” Their social posts, which they later deleted following a public backlash, touted the programme as offering job and educational opportunities in Russia’s Tatarstan region But serious concerns have emerged. Joburg, serious news from Roodepoort: West Ridge High and Hoërskool Roodepoort have clashed violently. Cars were stoned, learners injured, and the principal was even stabbed trying to calm things down. This all started after a viral clash last Friday and escalated on Monday when West Ridge learners allegedly returned to Hoërskool Roodepoort. Three learners were seriously hurt, two still in hospital, and 19 learners have been suspended. Investigative journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh recently uncovered a brazen attempt to suppress a corruption investigation involving the Independent Development Trust (IDT). In a covert meeting on August 3, 2025, at a Stellenbosch wine farm, suspended IDT CEO Tebogo Malaka and spokesperson Phasha Makgolane allegedly offered Myburgh R60,000 in cash to halt his investigation into an IDT contract linked to one of Malaka’s high-end properties.
