How To Save Money & Get Customers Faster,
02/03/2020 Duration: 05minToday’s Tim Talks is inspired by my Interview with Kyle Elliot on Episode 198 of Screw the Naysayers when he shared with us the origins of his business. I thought it was a great story and also a reminder that a lot of people are making things a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Kyle started his business on Fiverr, charging a mere 5 bucks to edit resumes and write LinkedIn profiles. His goal was to support his soy, sugar-free vanilla latte addiction through undergrad and grad school. He never imagined that his college side hustle would turn into a thriving coaching practice. While he helps people across every industry and nearly every continent, Kyle’s specialty is the high tech space and Silicon Valley. He’s gone from a 5 dollar freelancer on Fiverr to someone who has been featured in Forbes, Fast Company, The Ladders, and many other publications. He’s also killing it on LinkedIn where he has more than 60k followers. Tune in to see how these lessons can be applied to any new business startup.

Jim (sportscaster Jim) observed that Coach Johnson's single mover created a massive long term impact on the lifes of so many others. Stories like the one that revoled around Coach Johnson's autistic manager turned "hot as a pistol 3 point shooter" are happening all over the country. Jim Schmit sums it up this way. How (and When) I Found My Why
19/02/2020 Duration: 07minPeople often ask me how I found the courage to quit a six-figure job, move to a tiny fishing village in Nova Scotia Canada, and to start my own educational software business. Especially when I had two kids under the age of five and I was the sole wage earner in the family. Then there was the fact that I didn’t know how to code software. Looking back it’s easy for me to see where I found the courage to quit that job, move back to Nova Scotia, and start a business most everyone predicted was certain to fail. It’s actually very simple. For the first time in my life my WHY was bigger than my fear of failure. In this mini episode I explain how I found my why and how my why has evolved over the past 30 years. Today's episode was inspired by my conversation with Corey Poirier, the Best Selling Author of The Book of Why (and How). I’ve read the book and I believe that it should be mandatory reading for anyone that is seeking to live a life filled with purpose and meaning. Corey has a launch on right now and you

7 Tips To Unlock Those Imaginary Golden Handcuffs
18/02/2020 Duration: 06min“The salary is what they pay you to give up on your dreams”. Nathan Seaward, Ep. 190 Screw the Naysayers. Anyone that has ever felt stuck in a job that no longer fulfilled them can probably relate to those words. Nathan has earned the right to make this statement. He walked away from a 15 year career as an commercial airline pilot with one of the largest airlines in Asia, to become a life coach. It was a huge gamble, but in his heart, Nathan knew that flying wasn’t his forever job. The thing that makes Nathan’s story special is that he broke free from the “golden handcuffs”, which for an airline pilot are linked to a seniority system that assigns desirable routes based on years of service. If you leave and come back, you start all over again at the bottom. For me those golden handcuffs came in the form of a six figure income and stock options that would only vest if I stayed with the company. In both cases those “handcuffs” were designed to incent us to focus on the status quo, even if doing so meant givin

If You Want It Bad Enough You’ll Find A Way
14/02/2020 Duration: 07min“When you know what you want, and you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to get it.” One of Jim Rohn’s most famous quotes. For those that don’t know Jim Rohn was arguably one of the most influential authors and motivational speakers of his generation. He died in 2009. Jim was an absolute quote factory. Perhaps most famously known for advising that “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” I can’t count the number of times guests on my Screw the Naysayers podcast have shared this quote. Jim also said “If you don’t like how things are, change it. You are not a tree”. And then there is one of my favorites, “If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.” The man was a genius and most likely forgot more things about entrepreneurship and mindset than I will ever know. That’s why I’ve always hesitated to say much when people say, “If you want it bad enough you’ll find a way.” Who am I to question the wisdom of a man like Jim Rohn? But I do
