Bluesman Gary Clark Jr. has a hot new album out called “This Land” that bends genres and confronts racism. He came by my NYC apartment to tell us all about it. He also tuned up my Stratocaster and even helped us through some “Touchy Subjects” such as whether or not Michael Jackson should be kicked out of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.  Of course it all winds down with Gary accompanying me for a special mafia themed “Roast In Peace”.  Life is hard but we’re getting through it together. My buddy, Grammy winning musician and mood philosopher John Mayer came by the bunker for his first podcast interview ever. I was thrilled to have a sweet and funny guy – and one of the creative forces behind “Borat”, “Seinfeld”, and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” over for a chat about his new Netflix documentary series “Larry Charles’ Dangerous World of Comedy”.   It’s a terrifying project that chronicles Larry’s search for levity in warzones and dictatorships.  Cousin Ed and I also tackled some “Touchy Subjects” such as the new Michael Jackson documentary and Stormy Daniels’ attempt at stand-up comedy. This is a tough one.  Even though I was annoyed by Brody for years we grew to be great friends, toured together, and shared a stage almost every night at The Comedy Store. I’m still in denial that he killed himself this week. Our friends Benji Aflalo and Sarah Tiana came by yesterday to help me make some sense of it all and celebrate his legacy in a positive way. “Positive Energy” was Brody’s mantra and you can listen to our tribute for free on @Spotify. I love this episode. My top comic and Bumping Mics partner Dave Attell is passing through town.  After we did sets at the local Hollywood clubs, I drove Dave up to my house and into the bunker for an intimate chat about his life, our Netflix special and some hilarious “Touchy Subjects”. Just me and Cousin Ed reminiscing about his best pal and rising comedy star Kevin Barnett who passed away suddenly this week.  We also pay tribute to some other comedic greats gone too soon.  On a happier note we play a clip from a recent stand up show in which legendary guitarist Nils Lofgren joined me on stage to roast the city of Phoenix. Then we debate the “Touchy Subject” of that red MAGA hat wearing high school kid who stood nose to nose with that Native American Vietnam veteran.
