  • SPECIAL - We talk (and are at) PAX East

    10/04/2018 Duration: 01h18min

Hold Up a Sec hits Boston to check the annual PAX East video game convention. This is Andrew's first time to PAX so we have to make sure to show him a good time so that he wants to come back next year. We talk about our expectations for the show in the first half of the episode in very hushed tones because there signs are posted everywhere in our AirBnB about keeping it down after 10, but our friend Knob Creek helps us forget that in the latter half of the show. This is a more loose episode where we just talk and talk and talk without any real structure. There's also some food involved and we discover I have a pin addiction. We also brought Jake...ugh Hold Up a Sec social channels: http://www.facebook.com/holdupasecpod http://www.twitter.com/holdupasecpod Drop us a line and/or send us your questions: questions@holdupasec.com Your Hosts: http://twitter.com/Andrewjdv http://twitter.com/Albietha1nonly

  • 9. We talk Dragon Ball Z

    02/04/2018 Duration: 01h33min

Do you remember what it was like when you watched Goku turn Super Saiyan for the first time? Do you remember how awesome it was to finally see the pay off for all you had to watch for this moment? Do you also remember how Toonami would then reset back to the beginning of the Saiyan Saga just as you were ready to see Goku wail on Freeza? Thanks Toonami!!! The guys at Hold Up a Sec are joined once more by Alex Henske to talk all things related to the world of Dragonball. We share memories of our favorite moments, talk about how the filler episodes sometimes provided totally nuts premises and also discuss the reasons why Yamcha is such a punk character. Also S-cells are a thing and we hate them just as we do midichlorians. You should all give this episode a listen because it is super fun to talk about such a pivotal anime. Time to go over 9000! • 8. We Talk Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter

    12/03/2018 Duration: 01h10min

The team at Hold Up a Sec talks magic and fantasy again for the first time in this latest episode for your listening pleasure. Special guest Colin Albanese joins us as we talk about how revolutionary the books and movies were for Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter and where we stand on which is better. Spoilers - we prefer the movies of one series, and the books of another. Don't agree with us? Fights us...no but really don't. You can just email us and let us know your thoughts. We also compare wand sizes (yes, it is what you're thinking) and talk about how disappointed we are in our patronuses. Also, for some reason, we start talking like eagles and imagine how cool a Nick Cage and Sean Connery lead Lord of the Rings movie would have been. Get on it Peter Jackson! Listen in, drop us a rating and show us some love as we undoubtedly will frustrate a large portion of you fans out there, but then again that is sort of our brand.

  • 7. We Talk Super Mario

    26/02/2018 Duration: 01h39min

Who's everyone's favorite mustachioed plumber who loves to jump on turtles and eat mushrooms and flowers? That's right, it's Mario Mario! The guys from Hold Up a Sec are joined by our favorite streamer Garrett to talk about an Italian plumber from Brooklyn by way of Japan. We try not to get too sidetracked, but we're only human and when the company you have is as good as Garrett you just need to let the conversation flow before bringing it back to the main topic, like why does Bowser keep abducting Princess Peach? Listen in, have fun and come back for more goodness.

  • SPECIAL - We talk Power Couples for Valentine's Day

    14/02/2018 Duration: 01h04min

Valentine's Day is more than just a day when you have to go out and buy flowers and chocolates for your loved ones because that's what one does. It's also a day to talk about pop culture power couples and which one reigns supreme over all others. The guys at Hold Up a Sec are joined by the always lovely Sarah Dixey and talk about just that. We give our power couple picks and rank them. Previous guest hosts also provide their picks for power couple of pop culture-ness and we see if they can sway us from our personal picks. Give it a listen and see if you agree with us, or not. And if not, let us know. We love hearing from you

  • 6. We Talk Prequels vs. Originals

    01/02/2018 Duration: 01h19min

We officially introduce 'What am I drinking?' as its own fuil fledged segment and what better way to kick it off than by sharing some Natty while discussing the merits of the Star Wars Prequels vs the majesty of the original trilogy. The Cheep Show's very own Levi joins us for this night of gentlemanly discussion of why Jar Jar Binks ruins what many of us hoped would be totally awesome...in all fairness Darth Maul's double saber was bad ass. In thumbs up/thumbs down Berto talks Nintendo, Levi is feeling the Millennium Falcon re-design for Solo and Andrew talks wrestling because Andrew loves wrestling. It's a fun one and you definitely don't want to be a nerfherder and miss this one. BONUS - We have a thumbs/thumbs down bumper!

  • 5. We Talk Legend of Zelda

    20/01/2018 Duration: 01h26min

We regenerate our health drinking red potion (red wine in reality) while talking about Nintendo's silent protagonist who is constantly saving Hyrule from Ganon. This is our first round table style episode where we bring back previous guest hosts to chime in on why we all love the Legend of Zelda. We also talk some Tommy Wiseau, why Triple H is the king of kings and touch on how awesome the Champion's Ballad DLC is for the greatest game ever made...fight us. It's a fun episode and the sound quality is much improved from our previous offerings, so give it a listen.

  • 4. We Talk Doctor Who

    24/12/2017 Duration: 01h12min

The lovely Sarah joins us this episode as we solicit providers of libations to be our sponsors and talk about the most awesome kind of Doctor in the world; Yes we mean the one that travels through space and time and kidnaps people to go on crazy, outlandish adventures with him and no we aren't THAT upset about the kidnapping because he says everything with his awesome British accent so we look past the abduction. Oh we also brainstorm what the Michael Bay produced Dora the Explorer movie will look like and, not gonna lie, we'd totally pay money to see it. We apologize for the audio, we're still figuring some stuff out but we promise we're awesome.

  • 2. We Talk Bond, James Bond

    26/11/2017 Duration: 01h18min

The boys from Hold Up a Sec are joined by Reed POP's very own Chris D'Lando and they talk all things Bond...James Bond. The secret agent extraordinaire's exploits are the stuff of legend, and with 24 movies (and counting) the crew dissects who the best Bond is, favorite movies and why Roger Moore doesn't rank as high as Andrew thinks he should. Drink of choice for this episode is, obviously, a vodka martini...shaken not stirred.

  • 3. We Talk Final Fantasy

    26/11/2017 Duration: 01h37min

Listen as Al get's called a Final Fantasy hipster because of his love for Final Fantasy 6 and Andrew tries to make us all believe that Final Fantasy XIII wasn't thaaaat bad (It's not good). Sal and Barry's very own Alex Henske of Sal and Barry Productions joins the guys this episode to talk Final Fantasy and to make fun of their choice of beverage. Listen and laugh along with Alex.

  • 1. We Talk 'Who Shot First?'

    26/11/2017 Duration: 01h02min

This is it guys! The first ever "Hold Up a Sec" podcast and we get right into it with a a subject that, to this day, gets sci-fi fans and nerds of all walks of life up in arms. Does Han really shoot first or is that what our nostalgia wants us to see? (Ok seriously though we all know he shoots first, we see what you're doing Lucas!) What does it mean to have Han shoot first? Does it change his character at all or are we just reading too much into this? Perhaps the latter but in any case it makes for some awesome discussion. Joining us on this episode is none other than Pat Reidy as we record in an echo-y kitchen in Queens. It's fun we promise.
