Week one of the NFL season was filled with many thrilling comebacks, and even more embarrassment for the Chargers and Colts. Not every team has the talent to come back: it includes dumb luck sometimes, along with a quarterback whose done it before. Sometimes, a team mistakenly concludes its over and doesn't realize their opponent's making adjustments in the locker room. The 49ers of the '80s and The Broncos of the '90s had WBS who led multiple comebacks. That helped teammates stay confident. Granted, some teams don't: the Bengals of the '90s and Detroit Lions of the 2000s come to mind. Comebacks in the NFL are a simple matter of talent that's done it before, a good defense to give their QB the ball back, and a little dumb luck. That's it; its a simple recipe.

A few years ago, we could say with certainty a team would win the Big Ten Championship game. Ohio State, much like its rival, the Michigan Wolverines, are a testament to the fact those days are gone. Like their rival, the Buckeyes have a major concern in that their offensive line is so full of young guys. While its certainly a problem for Mcihigan, scrambling Quarterback JT Barrett's playing style leaves him twice as much at risk. With Ezekial Elliott gone, its not like anyone stands out at running back for the Buckeyes; they face a .500 season at best if their running backs can't step up. I see the Bucks being a .500 football team this fall. Having an explosive scrambler at quarterback is awesome, sure, but with no offensive line and nobody to hand the ball off to, J.T. Barrett can look forward to much more time in the icetub this fall-and the Bucks can look forward to more marks in the loss column.

This Sunday, the NFL's annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio was canceled because a Field turf surface was too dangerous...thanks to the mistakes of the grounds crew. The last thing the NFL needs is another PR Nightmare, and it came last Sunday. Constant mistakes in stopping misbehavior, bullying the press, and medical fraud: one misstep after another has cost the NFL its good name. As if that weren't bad enough, this canceled game not only would have ended players' careers had the game been played (which is bad enough); it'll end guys' careers anyway: there's a deadline on when coaches can make final cuts, so the rookies on the Colts and Packers' rosters will miss their chance to achieve a dream. The league risks disappearing from the sports scene, and if it does, it'll be on Roger Goodell's watch.
