MYQ KAPLAN on Employee of the Month
01/11/2012 Duration: 51minMyq Kaplan is a stand up comedian, writer, lover and all around hunk. It was lovely to interview him as his career takes off and he has just released his latest comedy album and podcast HANG OUT WITH ME! So let's hang out.... And THANK YOU to DAVE STEFFEY who recorded this piece. EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH (EOTM) is a talk show about work, jobs and labor. I wanted to hear from folks with some of the best jobs in the world. It’s why I interview (and award) these special snowflakes. That said, even if you love your job, you may not be eligible for the prestigious EMPLOYEE of the MONTH award. For example, dictators, most politicians, and parking ticket officers are ineligible. www.employeeofthemonthshow.com

J.ROBIN BAITZ on EMPLOYEE of the MONTH
17/10/2012 Duration: 32minAt our live taping at UCB, I sat down with Robby Baitz, the prolific, Pulitzer Prize and Drama Desk nominated, Tony award winning playwright. He has also written for TV and Film, including Alias and The West Wing and he also co-created the TV show Brothers and Sisters, and has a new show in the works. He also acts. You will get hear one his latest works read aloud. It is a 10 minute play for a benefit for Playwright Horizons. It is clearly the beginning and end of my stage career, but try not to hold that against him. It was a sheer delight to interview him. I am probably one of many who consider him a mentor. He has certainly had his far share of suffering, despite the duly deserved success. Perhaps that's why Baitz reveals humanity, humility, and humor, on the page and off.

We caught up as the comic writer's career is taking off, so we'll have to check in when his career is taking on. Wait what? Shouldn't the phrase be "taking on" when things are on the up and up? However you say it, Dan shared his insights about writing for print, appearing on This American Life, winning a game show with his wife, comedian Margot Leitman, and writing original characters, sketches and stories for such distinct mediums. EMPLOYEE of the MONTH is hosted by Catie Lazarus. Subscribe to the podcast for more interviews with phenomenal folks as they discuss their work, jobs, and labor. ANYA KAMENETZ on EMPLOYEE of the MONTH

KAMBRI CREWS on EMPLOYEE of the MONTH
06/06/2012 Duration: 25minKambri Crews has taught me that nobody comes from nothing. Please run don't walk to your nearest keyboard (oh! wait, you're probably already there!) Now buy BURN DOWN THE GROUND on AMAZON! I bought 3 copies and if you listen to our interview you will know why. We met when I hosted Fresh Meat at Comix, a then new club (and now defunct one). It was their first show for up and comers. I created a show about comedy across genres (New Yorker cartoonists, stand ups et al) and there was a panel where I'd ask what made them special snowflakes, worst gigs, first jokes. Meanwhile, the brilliant booker Rocky Benloulou brought in Kambri and the two really shook up comedy scene for zee better. There were soon zillions of shows like mine on the main stage, and no clubs had alternative shows and headline "traditional" stand ups. Then Kambri wanted to showcase folks like myself with few credits who were funny (okay, not like myself). Anypants, Kambri took the downstairs bar and named Ouchi's Lounge after the sweetest...

FREAKONOMICS STEPHEN DUBNER on EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
06/06/2012 Duration: 26minThere are people who I consider mentors because of the career paths they've charted for themselves. Then there are folks who I consider mentors because of how they comport themselves. I want to be like them, not just when I'm .... (famous, successful, blonde or whatever the goal is here. I want to be a better person. I want to be that... (comfortable in my own skin, honest, funny, accessible, disciplined, and kind to the feeble) NOW! I knew Stephen Dubner was a pithy and prolific author. Once we spoke, I realized how much I admired, envied, liked, respected and enjoyed Stephen Dubner as a person. I'm guessing anyone with a pulse will have a similar reaction. I was a subscriber before they become a sponsor, and if you go to http://www.Audiblepodcast.com/employee you can get a free 30 day trial OR download a free audio book. You will also be helping to support Employee of the Month, so thank you! Now I love to interview and award folks who try and save the world for a living, or, at least, make a tangible difference and no one has done so with the ingenuity, on point research, and chutzpah of THE YES MEN. Who are The Yes Men? I like to think of them as the people's lobbyist. They create non-violent campaigns, often including pranks, to confront social injustice. The Yes Men shed light on corporations that have acted irresponsibly, unethically, and unnecessarily hurt our planet and fellow humans. www.theyesmen.org In this episode I spoke with one of the founding fathers of The Yes Men, Andy Bichlbaum, and another social activist...

BOB MANKOFF, Cartoon Editor for The New Yorker, on rejection, redemption, and the Cartoon Caption Contest
07/02/2012 Duration: 22minHi! I host EMPLOYEE of the MONTH a talk (and awards) show about what it truly means to have a dreamy job. I wanted to know what it means to be the cartoon editor of The New Yorker magazine. For over twenty years, Bob Mankoff has been The New Yorker's Cartoon Editor and Mankoff says that, as a result, "I haven't worked a day in my life." As a cartoonist, Bob has continuously breathed much needed humor into an otherwise serious magazine. He has also shaped the landscape for other cartoonists as an editor. Since its inception, The New Yorker has been the most coveted credit for a cartoonist. While other magazines and newspapers trim their budgets, The New Yorker remains one of the few print outlets to pay its artists. By embracing new media, The New Yorker has enabled its stable of cartoonists to license their own work and stay relevant. The New Yorker's famed and growing of archives of cartoons is readily accessible via its Cartoon Bank. When not cartooning, editing zillions of cartoon books, selecting...
