    From Widmer & Davis Artisan Distilleries, Michelle Widmer is in talking about how she and her husband Kevin has retooled the distillery to produce hand sanitizer.  They have taken bottles of liquor off their shelves and from out back, re-distilled them to a higher proof, followed the recipe instructions from the World Health Organization, and began producing hand sanitizer for people to come take for free.  They have been giving these bottles out to fire, police and EMTs in our area, and also have at their location on Main Street.  They need your help though, currently they need aloe.  If you have any aloe or small bottles that they can put the sanitizer in, they are looking for donations.

    President and CEO of Sugar River Bank, Mark Pitkin, was in this morning discussing how the bank, and many banks in New Hampshire, have had to change up their policies because of the Coronovirus.  Sugar River Bank has closed off their lobby area and are going online, mobile, telephone, and drive up - plus are taking appointments for banking that needs to be done in person.  During any in person banking, Sugar River Bank is following the CDC's 6 foot guideline, and taking safety concerns.  Mark also talked about new home and refinance interest rates, after the Fed cut rates, how to start that discussion with a banking professional, and the timeline being slower because of the influx of refinances that have transpired recently.

    Well, the Recreation Department's building is shut down, all programs and postponed or canceled, but PJ Lovely is in studio anyway.  Despite all the closures, and uncertainties, PJ brings a positive attitude and is refocusing people to get outside and hike the Newport Town Forrest.  He is starting up a plan for this next week to have a marked, easy hike for families to do (at a safe distance from others) through the Town Forrest.  The hike will be marked and each week it will change.  We talk about Covid 19, keeping our distance, and more.  He also talks about future plans for events already scheduled with the Newport Rec Department.

    SAU #43 Superintendent Dr. Brendan Minnihan is in studio discussing the Covid 19 situation.  Coming directly from a staff meeting this morning, Dr. Minnihan spoke about the latest situation with the Newport School District.  Governor Sununu closed all public schools at a press conference Sunday until at least April 3rd.  We spoke about what this means for students & staff, how online & at home learning will take place, how the school breakfast & lunch program will service it's population, the Newport school board and select board working together for the betterment of the community, how the school shutdown will or will not alter graduation & April vacation, how special ed students and those with IEP's will be affected, Pre-K thru 3rd grade learning, distributing Chrome Books to at home learners, and lots more.  This pandemic is something we all as a society are dealing with and learning about, and the Newport School District's plans are fluid; willing to change when need arises.
